The rural village of Mellieha is located in the Northwest part of Malta. Its name is probably derived from the Greek word “Melleca” meaning honey.
This eco tour will take you to ancient apiaries, guarded by a magnificent carob tree for hundreds of years. Remains of the prehistory, a red painted Tower and the sheltered church courtyard will give a historic dimension to the tour combined with breath taking views overlying the rocky shore.
A typical Maltese lunch [optional] prepared with local ingredients will be an excellent treat while enjoying the view of Mediterranean vegetation and a distant sandy beach.
The picture on the left shows the Tower of St. Agatha, also known as the Red Tower. It forms part of a network of fortifications built at the time of the Knights of St. John.
